Multi colored Maze Afghan

Sunday, August 17, 2003

I finally finished this one after a heat interruption. It's really lap robe size. I'll definitely do this pattern again but I'll make it bigger for sure.

Here's the closeup.

And here's the big pic.

On now to the next afghan - it will be a kind of sampler. Stay tuned.

I'm so disappointed. This afghan is just too skinny! So it has to be a lap robe. Sigh. Oh well, next time... I have about 3 more inches to go til the end. I really like the look of it so I will absolutely be making it again only bigger.

The big shot...

And the closeup...

Here it is with 10 more inches. I can't seem to get a picture that does either the pattern or the yarn justice. It's really a fun looking blanket in person. Here's a closeup that's as good as I can seem to get.

And the big shot.

When it's cool enough, I do afghan. When not, I do socks. But I really would rather work on the afghan. And I've had a few weather breaks. As of right now, it's 42" wide and 29" long and this has taken 5 skeins. I wish I had made it wider. It so hard to judge when you are using a new yarn. Next time I will know. And I like this pattern enough for their to be a next time for sure.

Moving right along. 19" completed - 3.5 skeins so far. It's a fun one to work on and I think it's going to make a nice finished piece. I really like the yarn colors. It's so nice to work with new colors!

It's almost as hard not to post every day as it is to keep an everyday posting interesting! Somewhere there has to be a happy middle. But, on to the knitting. It's really looking good. It's a pretty fun pattern to do - nice texture - and the yarn is a great color to knit. My size 6 needle is a little too small for the yarn, but I really don't want to use a bigger needle. I may have to keep hunting for the perfect yarn. Caron's Simply Soft in better colors! This photo shows the first 10 inches.

And a new one starts! I'm trying a new yarn. I don't like it as much as the Simply Soft (it's not... as soft!!) but it comes in lots more and lots better colors. So I'll got enough to try a couple of blankets with it. This is the first one. It's a simple pattern of just knit stitches and purl stitches. But the arrangement of them is kind of log cabin-ey.
