Wedding Afghan

October 22, 2003

Done...  I have made this pattern probably 50 times and it is still one of my very favorites.  It is a dream to do and it just looks luscious.

I used 18 skeins of Caron Simply Soft - Fisherman color 2603.  I did it on #6 needles.  The border is crochet - one row of sc, one row of hdc and then a row of shell stitch.

I'm starting the next afghan right after I post this entry.  I'll probably post the first pictures of it sometime this weekend.

It's now about 50" long.  I think I'm going to finish off the skein I'm on and do one mare.  That should put it about 54" total.  Then there is about a 2" border making the entire thing about 56"x54" which is a good size, I think.

We're moving right along here...  37" and 10 skeins so far.

I'd forgotten what fun this pattern is to do.  And it's moving along pretty quickly.  I'm right at 29" and 7 skeins.

This is 52" wide and, as you can see, 13.5" long so far.  One thing about this pattern is that it does require a border all the way around it to finish it off.  I'm not wild about doing borders but it's a nice look so I will.  The border will fix that curl that you can see on the edge.

So far I've used 4 skeins.  So it's looking like the afghan itself will take about 16-17 skeins and the border will use another couple.

This is (or will be) an afghan.  It's a pattern that I've had for years and years.  Just after college when all my friends got married, I must have made a zillion afghans out of this pattern.  So now, when someone gets married - this is what they get.  Always in an ivory color.

Today's version is made from Caron's Simply Soft - 267 stitches on a #6 needle.
